Artistic Swimming Regional Games Development Squad

Swim England, East Region are very excited to announce that we will be building on our recent success of competing at the National Artistic Regional Games competition, we are creating a Squad of the top East Region Artistic Swimmers to compete at next year’s Regional Games. If you would like to be considered to be part of the squad please make sure you read through and meet the below criteria.

Competition date and Time:

The Regional Games is a competition where each Region around the country selects their top swimmers to represent the Region in Figures, Land based exercise and competitive swimming.

The combined total of the swimmers in the region is added to find out the best Region to win the overall games!

We think after our first experience of this earlier this year that the East Region should be regularly represented at these games, hence why we are developing our squad for the second year running.

It is important your swimmer can attend all the training sessions and the competition as that is the main focus behind the sessions. If however you are not available for the competition date but you would still want to complete the development training please feel free to sign up but just let us know. Up to a maximum of 15 swimmers will be selected to represent the Region at the event based on commitment and performance at the squad training sessions.

The competition will be as follows:

Friday 30th of May 2025, 9am – 2pm ( This is during the June half term week for most schools ) (You must be available on this date )

Location: Hengrove Leisure Centre, Hengrove Park, Bristol, BS14 0DE ( You must be able to get to this location on the required date )

Age as at midnight on the 31st December in the year of competition (2025) must be no less than but including 11yrs and no greater than but including 15yrs ( in the case of Males this can be no greater than but including 16yrs )

Grade:

The minimum grade criteria for entry to the squad is Figure Grade 2 but please be aware the figures you will need to perform at the competition are 13 – 15 figures ( Grade 4 figures )

This squad will be focussed on getting swimmers through their grade 3, working on Regional Games entry and GB trial criteria.

Any concerns about this speak to your Coach who can advise if you meet this criteria.

The Games itself consists of 3 parts:

Land Grade Assessments: Video submission in advance 4 swimmers, 1 from each age group

Figure Competition: Grade 4 figures, all to compete

Squad Relay Races: 8 swimmers, each swimming 50m

These will be a large focus of the Regional Squad.

When are our training sessions for the squad:

Our training sessions are scheduled for

Sunday 15th of September 2024

Sunday 24th November 2024

Sunday 2nd March 2025

Time: 2.00pm – 5.00pm

Who will be coaching?

Kerri Clewlow ( Head Coach at Aqualina ) and Jayne Wollaston Jarvis (Head Coach at Potters Bar) along with several other Coaches across the region will join together to provide the training for the Squad.

With their combined knowledge of swimming at European level and getting swimmers up to and into team GB swimming internationally, they are very well suited to be developing this squad and they hope to pass on much of their expertise.
