Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre was this year’s venue for the East Region Inter-Counties Competition. More than 70 swimmers from four Counties competed in 71 events in the hopes of gaining the most points and becoming this year’s champions.
From the start, both Essex and Bedfordshire fought head-to-head with some exciting racing leading to close finishes. The points stayed close between the two counties throughout the competition with Bedfordshire pulling ahead over the final few relays for their second consecutive win.
The East Region Inter-Counties trophy was presented by the East Region President, Darren Peck to Paul Clarke and Christine Ayres from Bedfordshire.

Essex 188
Cambridgeshire 162
Hertfordshire 152
When the results were combined with the results from the other Regions Bedfordshire came 14th, Essex were 17th, Hertfordshire 24th and Cambridgeshire 25th.
