Entries open for the Long Course 1500m events and Development Meet

Entries for the Long Course 1500m events and Development Meet have opened.

The conditions for these are on the Swimming Competitions page which can be found here.

Para Entries for the Development Meet have a dedicated entry page here and Para Swimmers should enter via that page rather than the main online system even if they are fast enough for the non Para times as that way we can ensure they are correctly identified. There are some combinations of events and classifications that do not have Para times meaning Para swimmers can enter if they have achieved the time for non Para swimmers and the entry method allows for that, there is no need to do two entries.

The 1500m events entry system can be found here.

The Development Meet entry system can be found here.

Future Champions Meet and Festival of Swimming – Accepted Entries and a general update.

The review period for entries to the Future Champions and Festival of Swimming Meets has now concluded. The final accepted entries list for each meet can be found on the Swimming Competitions page which is here.

Over the coming days, the region will be preparing further information for distribution to clubs, coaches and athletes.

An event manual will be published for each event on the Monday prior to each competitive weekend. This is to ensure that the region is able to reflect on its experiences each weekend and make adjustments to its planning where necessary.

Basic information such as session times and warm-up plans will be shared very shortly. The Region has, however, developed some common protocols for all weekends.

Athletes will be able to bring their usual swimming bags with them, but these bags will not be permitted in the Call Room or the Field of Play. The Field of Play is defined as the competition area – essentially the poolside, including all surrounding poolside space. Across all competition venues, access to the Call Room and Field of Play will be highly controlled.

When entering the poolside to race, athletes may carry clothing and other race essentials in a see-through plastic bin liner, which should be brought to the venue by the swimmer.

The type of bags required are the ones used here, as swimmers walk onto poolside to race:

Swimmers should also bring a supply of masks to the venue, for personal use, as this will most likely remain a venue and event requirement.

The Region’s fundamental priority is to ensure the delivery of a safe and successful meet for our athletes and their coaches, in a manner that is fully compliant with the individual expectations of our venue operators. Discussions with each venue are ongoing, following the government’s very recent announcements. We will communicate further information as soon as we are able to do so.

Norwich 100m events – Received Entries

The Received Entries have been published on the Swimming Competitions page and can also be found here.

Swimmers, teams and their representatives until 13 July to check the Received Entries and notify the entries manager by email to swimentries@eastswimming.loxfyq1r35-lxd6r712q49g.p.temp-site.link of any errors after which a final accepted entries list will be published and no further corrections allowed. Requests to add missing swimmers will not be considered.

Future Champions – Received Entries

The Received Entries have been published on the Swimming Competitions page and can also be found here.

The number next to a swimmer’s name is their year of birth. Normally it does not create an issue but for this meet the combination of year of birth, the ages involved in the meet and it being 2021 makes it look as if every swimmer is the “wrong” age if you assume it is showing their age.

Swimmers, teams and their representatives until 14 July to check the Received Entries and notify the entries manager by email to swimentries@eastswimming.loxfyq1r35-lxd6r712q49g.p.temp-site.link of any errors after which a final accepted entries list will be published and no further corrections allowed. Requests to add missing swimmers will not be considered.

Coach and Team Manager Passes for the Future Champions and Festival of Swimming Meets

All applications for these are through an online system. When entries are open there is a Coach Pass link which will take you to an English and Welsh Member Options logon page which is always available here

If you have not used the system before the logon page contains details on how to register. Any questions about Membership numbers and registered emails should go to your club registration officer not the region.

About half way down the screen there is a line starting “Purchase accreditation for events“ and a link to click. Click it.

The next page lists all events across the country where pass applications are possible.

The system checks the data on your membership record against the criteria

Coaches must have at least an assistant (Level 1) coaching certificate. Team Managers must have attended a Team Manager 1 course.

If all criteria are met then you can then apply for that event. Print the pass and bring it to the event. You will need to apply for each weekend you are attending.

If you have any questions about the accuracy of the data held you can return to the first page which shows you how to check the data on OMS or upload certificates. Please do not immediately contact the region about your membership data use all the other routes on the online systems first.

Festival of Swimming – Stage 1 Entry Review

Swim England East Region has conducted its review of entries following the closure of the Stage 1 Entry Process.

With close to 4,000 entries, events at the London Aquatics Centre are now full. The Region has identified, however, an opportunity for additional athletes to swim at Norwich, and is therefore introducing four development 100m events in Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle. Please see the updated schedule on the Swimming Competitions page.

The events are open to swimmers aged 12 and over at 31 December 2021 who meet the consideration time (unchanged) and have not entered the same event in Stage 1 of the entry process. Swimmers can use times from 01.01.2019 to the entry closing date. The time must be on rankings at the point of entry and may be from Levels 1,2,3,4 or X. If too many athletes with the consideration time enter the events, the slowest swimmers will be rejected first.

Para swimmers who wish to enter these 100m events and meet the para consideration times, again unchanged, should email swimentries@eastswimming.loxfyq1r35-lxd6r712q49g.p.temp-site.link for details of how to do so.

Athletes may not enter the development events if they are already entered for the same event at the London Aquatics Centre. Swimmers may however enter the development events if they are swimming other events at the London Aquatics Centre. Please fully read the conditions for the development events before entering to ensure you understand the implications of trying to enter the same 100m event at both locations.

Please do not ask to transfer a 100m swim from the LAC to Norwich as it will be refused.

Entries are now open via the online entry system which can be found here and will close at midday on Saturday 10th July. Please do not ask about entering after the close as all requests for entries after the close will be rejected.

Deadline for Future Champions Entries

A reminder that the deadline for entries to the Swim England East Region Future Champions Meet at Basildon is Friday 9th July at midday.

With the meet taking place so soon after entries close you are strongly advised to enter well before the deadline and carefully review your entry before it is submitted.

Our entry review period will focus on correcting errors to entries that were made by the deadline. Requests related to entries that were not made by the deadline will not be considered.
