East Region Synchro Swimmers Compete at NAGs

The Synchronised Swimming National Age Group Competition took place in Gloucester on 24th and 25th November and featured four clubs from the East Region.

The figures competition requires a minimum figure grade to enter and saw swimmers from Aqualina, Hatfield and Norwich all take part.  Chelmsford beat Henley to win the 15-18 mixed-duet title and Aqualina won the 12&U mixed duet category.

Success for Swimmers at National Masters Champs

Congratulations to Masters swimmers from clubs in the Region who took part in the Swim England Masters Championships in Sheffield which ran from 26th-28th October.

Medals were won by many swimmers from the Region and several records were broken too:

  • Team Anglia broke the European record for the ladies 200+ 4×100 medley relay (pictured: Helen Davis, Liz Woolner, Lucy Ryan & Janet Williams)
  • Team Anglia also broke the British record for the 4×50 medley relay
  • Carla King (South Beds) broke the British record for the women’s 35-39 50 breast

Para-Swimmers Selected for British Performance Squads

Congratulations to the swimmers from the East Region selected for the British Para-Swimming performance squads:

Podium: Jessica-Jayne Applegate (Co Norwich), Louise Fiddes (Hatfield)

Podium Potential: Jordan Catchpole (Co Norwich), Danielle Hartin (Basildon & Phoenix), Grace Harvey (Hoddesdon)

Academy Squad: Roan Brennan (Basildon & Phoenix), Ellie Challis (Colchester)

 

Video Recording at Regional Synchro Champs

Please be aware that video recording of figures will be taking place at the Regional Synchronised Swimming Champs on 13th October 2018.  This is new to regional competitions and is only to enable figures to be reviewed if deemed necessary during the competition in order to comply with the competition rules.

All videos will be deleted before the end of the competition and will be used for no other purpose than for the review of a figure during the competition.  It will not possible for any copies of videos to be made for parents or coaches.

Any questions regarding the recording of figures should be raised by team managers of clubs at the team manager meeting before the start of the competition.

Luton DC Win Regional Diving Club Champs

The Regional Diving Club Championships took place on 6th and 7th October in Southend.  Each event saw clubs awarded points, resulting in Luton Diving Club winning the Club Championships Team Trophy with a total of 200 points! The final standings were:

  • Luton Diving Club – 200 points
  • Southend Diving – 168 points
  • Dacorum Diving Club – 66 points
  • Cambridge Dive Team – 56 points
  • Beaumont Diving Academy – 14 points
