A new personnel report that will ease the workload on officials and also help clubs meet the requirements of Stronger Affiliation and SwimMark has been created by Swim England.

East Region Swimmers Selected for National Event Camps
The selections for Swim England’s national event camps were announced this week and the East Region was well represented. Congratulations to Olivier Vedrenne (City of Norwich) and Michael Klimaszewski (Hatfield) as well as three swimmers who were formerly based in the East Region but now attend schools in other areas of the country – Caitlin Loo (Hatfield), Erin Little (Chelmsford) and Sophie Freeman (Colchester). Owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, all pathway camps (county, regional and national) in 2020 will be running in a digital format. Full details on the regional programme for 2008-born swimmers will sent to clubs in September.
East Para Swimmers Selected for National Talent Programme
A huge congratulations to 5 East para swimmers selected to be part of the National Swim England Para Swimming Talent Programme. These swimmers will be taken on a journey of development with many destinations, exploring the pillars of athlete development; Technical, Tactical, Physical, Psychological.
The selected swimmers from East region includes Roan Brennan (Basildon & Phoenix SC), Mwaba Mkwasa (Norwich Swan SC), Louise Storey (Hoddesdon SC), Samual Tidy (Dereham &District SC), and Owen Woodrow (City of Norwich SC).
Congratulations to East Region Swimmers
In addition to the 28 swimmers already selected for the National Development Programme, an additional 20 swimmers have now ben invited to join the programme.
This programme is the first step on the National Framework. The 13 and 14-year-olds picked will be expected to join a day of online workshops in October covering ‘Loving Race Day’, sleep recovery and injury prevention. A dry land conditioning session will also emphasise mobility and stability to enhance the anti-rotational / rotational strokes and streamlining.
All the swimmers were chosen using the new adjusted selection guidelines that have been introduced for the 2020-21 season because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Swimming Coach Drop in Calls
Since the start of the Covid-19 crisis, the region have been hosting regular drop in calls for coaches. We have over 90 coaches now registered for these and have been offering a range of opportunities from stroke technique discussions through to sharing ideas on the various training methods behind the different energy systems. Swim England has unveiled its reorganised structure, way of working and contact details for its new-look teams. The region’s team remains unchanged and is available for any enquiries or support that you may have or need.
Swim England welcomes the report to preserve leisure facilities
Swim England provided evidence to the DCMS select committee, featured in the report, stressing the urgent need for financial support for swimming pools. The Parliamentary report has said the Government must work with councils to ensure necessary funding is in place to preserve leisure facilities
Swim England updates its Return to Pool Guidance
The Return to Pool Guidance has been updated on group sizes for training as well as looking at the next steps towards competition.

Green light given to reopen!
Late yesterday the Government announced that swimming pools could reopen: outdoor pools from 11th July and indoor pools from 25th July (after 16 weeks of closure)
